'Enter The Dragon'

IMG_3483.JPG

‘Enter the Dragon’ is a conceptual sculpture created for an exhibition for Warwickshire Open Studios 2018 with contemporary art group 'The Edge' on the theme 'Invasive'.

Research included looking at invasive plants originally from China and Japan, like running bamboo and Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia Japonica), and the way they could break and grow through solid materials such as concrete. My idea for the piece was to create a needle type shape which pieced up through the ground.

Materials used were bamboo and wire, with an acrylic inner for installation. The title came from the1973 cult martial-arts film ‘Enter the Dragon’ starring Bruce Lee.

Size:  h. 78 x w. 25 cms.

Grace is also working on a wheel barrow sculpture. Title: The Graveyard Shift.
Materials: Metal wheelbarrow, mannequin parts, gravel
